International Craft and Design Conference & Talks 17 / 18 September 2015
The National Gallery of Victoria in conjunction with the National Craft Initiative present a series of lectures and discussions on the future of craft and design in Australia and the world, with local and international speakers.
I take interests in the subject as a designer, but most of all as an individual who promotes homegrown talent and share a passion for all things Australian.
One of the speakers is Antonia Syme from the “Australian Tapestry Workshop”, whose work I have mentioned on an earlier post.
With countries like Japan and England promoting a recovery of homemade arts and crafts, remember the Alexander McQueen dress fro the royal wedding, to mention only one such initiative.
Japan and its designers are striving to keep their craft traditions alive, we need to do the same,
