I am in love with Denim right now, I am finding so hard to find high street fashion that I want to wear, all seems so uninteresting, colours and shapes are not inspiring me, while my fashion buying options are limited by my budget, even the more expensive stores are not delivering the look I am after.
So denim is my answer to the ” What to wear?” question
You can dress it down or dress it up, creating great looks with few pieces, and it is so modern and versatile, you can create a denim look that is chic without the price tag, it is all about the right choices for you.
Check this Vogue article, a masterpiece in fashion style, find your own denim favourite and if next time you open the wardrobe and you cannot find something to wear, wear denim.
A couple of weeks ago I visit the Big Design Market held at Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton, Melbourne.
The Market presents the best of independent Australian & international designers, with a significant emphasis on ethical production and sustainability
Quality, originality and good design was a constant, with a feel of exclusivity from most stallholders.
I love that feeling of locally made goods, it feels so right to me,the ideas behind design and production with a purpose to satisfy a need or desire, yet so organically made, you want to keep it forever.
I was so impressed by the wares on display, from shoes made in Melbourne, beautiful clothing made with exquisite textiles, great bags and beautiful jewellery, I left the market happy with some treasures.
The fact that those goods are made right here in Australia is a reassuring, it shows determination to keep our manufacturing industry alive.
As a stylist, I am constantly searching for new designers and retailers, but I am also looking for a deeper meaning to fashion, most of us place an emphasis in looking good most of the time and its great to add the sustainability word to our fashion vocabulary, be aware of the impact the fashion industry has over the environment, have few pieces in your wardrobe, that reflects our own industry and aesthetics.
I present to you some of my picks from the market
